Overview
The purpose of this course is to equip students with the necessary competencies for diverse guitar instrumental practice. The course will focus on developing students' technical and interpretive skills, guided by the objectives and skill guidelines established for each semester. Throughout the course, students will progressively apply theoretical harmonic and melodic concepts to their instrumental guitar performance through technical exercises (scales, arpeggios, cadences, articulation, ornaments, and other instrument-specific practices); repertoire pieces, which will include music literature from all eras and styles; and the "in-instrument" analysis of representative pieces, focusing on their harmonic, melodic, formal, and stylistic aspects. Students will be regularly exposed to both solo and duo performance experiences with the teacher, encompassing accompanying, harmonizing, soloing, ad-lib transposition, sight-reading, and improvisation. These experiences will prepare them for rehearsals, auditions, recordings, concerts, and all musical projects involving instrumental guitar performance, both within and outside the school setting.
